# Verifications

Every scan, as a list and as a live world map.

Every time someone taps one of your tags, it's recorded as a verification. This
is your audit trail: a record of where, when, and how your products are being
checked in the real world.

## The list

[/dashboard/verifications](/dashboard/verifications) is the full history, newest
first. Each row shows the **product**, the **location** (country), the **status**,
and the **time**, with **View** to open the details. Filter by status, choose how
many rows to show, sort by date, and page through the history. **Export**
downloads the data for your own records.

### What the statuses mean

- **Scanned**: the first tap was recorded, and the verification is waiting for
the second tap that proves the tag is live.
- **Valid**: the second tap confirmed a genuine, live tag.
- **Invalid**: the scan failed the check, for example a copied tag replaying an
  old tap.

See [how it works](/docs/overview/how-it-works) for the two-tap flow behind these
states.

### The seal

Tags ordered with a **tamper seal** carry a physical loop across the packaging.
The tag checks it on every tap, so each scan also shows whether the product has
been opened, in a badge next to the status:

- **Sealed**: the seal is intact.
- **Resealed**: the seal was opened at some point and is closed again.
- **Opened**: the seal is broken.
- **Unreadable**: the tag couldn't read its seal.

Tags without a seal show no badge.

The seal is a separate signal from the status. A genuine product whose box has
been opened still verifies as **Valid** and reads **Opened**. Expect that
combination for anything a customer has already unpacked, and treat it as a
warning where the packaging should still be closed, such as goods in transit or
on a shelf.

A tag checks its seal only while a tap powers it. A seal cut and repaired between
two taps therefore reads **Sealed**, because nothing powered the tag while it was
open. Read the seal as evidence about the moments around a scan, and keep the
authenticity check for the tag itself.

### Sorting, filtering, and paging

The list shows **newest first**. Click the **Date** column to flip the order, use
the status dropdown to narrow the list, and use **Rows per page** and the page
arrows to move through the history. Any of these can also be set in the URL. See
[finding things by URL](/docs/getting-started/using-the-dashboard). Your own
systems can read the same list over the [API](/docs/api/verifications).

## The live map

**[Watch the live map](/dashboard/verifications/live)** plots scans on a 3D globe
as they happen, with a running total and a carousel of the most recent
verifications. Leave it on a screen to watch scans arrive from around the world.

For aggregate numbers and trends, see [statistics](/docs/dashboard/statistics).
